Your 24-Hour Fantasy News Roundup 🗞️

Justin Fields (technically) lights up the stat sheet, and Joe Burrow progresses in recovery

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • Justin Fields lights up the stat sheet, but it’s not exactly as it seems

    • Despite throwing for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in limited action, none of his three completions on the day travelled more than three yards past the line of scrimmage. It’s never a bad thing when a fantasy quarterback benefits from the talent around him, but Fields’ first action is not a reliable litmus for what to expect come Week 1. The good news? D.J. Moore and Khalil Herbert look like some of the first real weapons Fields will enjoy in his career – and they certainly disappoint themselves in showcasing their talent and why they should be drafted.

  • Joe Burrow “progressing as he should” from calf injury

    • While no specific information was shared regarding his recovery, Burrow did take part in his first throwing session since the injury occurred. At this point, it doesn’t appear as though the Bengals are overly concerned with his status. As things stand today, fantasy managers can draft Joe Burrow and be assured that he won’t miss any significant time, if any, during the regular season as a result of this injury.

  • Sam Howell looks good in limited preseason action

    • The second-year QB threw for 77 yards and a touchdown on 75% completion percentage – a great sign for Howell as he enters 2023 under Eric Bienemy. It also helped that Jacoby Brissett was less than spectacular filling in for Howell, and it appears that if the season were to start today, Howell would be the starter. Of other interest: Howell’s touchdown pass went to Jahan Dotson, who should see plenty of work as the 1B to Terry McLaurin’s WR1A. Howell is set up with the weapons necessary to find fantasy success, and a strong performance on Friday demonstrated that he could live up to the hype.
