Another Surprise Injury Ahead of Week 2?

Plus, Austin Ekeler is officially OUT – and John Metchie makes his NFL debut

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • Browns WR Amari Cooper surprise addition to injury report on Saturday, dealing with groin injury

    • Just when you thought that surprise injuries before Week 2 were done and over with, Cooper becomes questionable 48 hours before the start of the Browns Week 2 tilt against the Steelers. While no clarification will likely be available before the game kicks off, Elijah Moore stands to benefit the most if Cooper isn’t able to go. While the timing of the injury is obviously not ideal, it could make a difference in whether or not he starts that the Browns don’t take the field until tomorrow night instead of today.

  • Chargers RB Austin Ekeler officially ruled out for Week 2 against Titans

    • Not much to be analyzed here. With Ekeler out, Josh Kelley becomes a must-start in almost every league and format, especially given the amount of work he received in Week 1 even with Ekeler in the lineup. The Titans were gashed in the passing game on defense last week by the Saints, while the Chargers were led by the run game in their close loss against the Dolphins. Kelley should be a solid play simply based on volume alone, but it’s important to temper expectations with him if the Chargers would flip their script to pass heavy.

  • Texans WR John Metchie expected to play Sunday, C.J. Stroud also ready to go

    • Metchie makes a timely entrance to the Texans lineup as a corresponding addition to the loss of WR Noah Brown to injury. Metchie has yet to play a down in the NFL and will be making his debut today, while quarterback C.J. Stroud – a late addition to Houston’s injury report – will also be ready to go after a brief scare due to a shoulder injury. With plenty of players ahead of Metchie and little game experience with C.J. Stroud, Metchie shouldn’t be considered as anything besides a bench stash for the time being.
