Bad News for Deebo Samuel Managers...

The 49ers receiver could be out until Week 10 - and Kyren Williams officially lands on IR

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • 49ers WR Deebo Samuel could be sidelined until Week 10 with hairline fracture in shoulder

    • Originally listed as ‘day-to-day’ following the 49ers Week 6 loss to the Browns, this one came clear out of left field - much to the chagrin of Samuel’s fantasy managers. The 49ers have their bye in Week 9, so it’s pretty safe to assume that he’ll be taking a trip to the closest thing to IR without being actually placed on IR. Fantasy managers should look to hold him while he recovers from the injury, as selling him will be difficult to nearly impossible after three straight duds in the game log. Brandon Aiyuk will likely take even more command of a target share he’s already dominating, while George Kittle will receive a slight boost while Samuel is out. Samuel has struggled to come close to reproducing the success he had in 2021, dealing with injuries on a crowded offense over the past season and a half.

  • Rams RB Kyren Williams officially placed on injured reserve, will be out at least four weeks

    • Unlike Deebo Samuel’s turn for the worst, Kyren Williams landing on IR has been a possibility since the Rams clarified that he would be more likely to miss multiple weeks versus the original one-game diagnosis. Now that he’s there, the Rams will turn to a true backfield by committee, led primarily by rookie RB Zach Evans and recently-promoted system veteran Darrell Henderson. The backfield could realistically shape up to be a complete mess, as there’s a history with Sean McVay and not following through in game with what he says is the plan going into it (see: the entirety of the Cam Akers saga). However, for the time being, your best bet in LA’s backfield for this week looks to be Evans. If he doesn’t look like he can handle a true workload, there’s a chance the situation could devolve into a three or four-pronged attack.
