Jameson Williams will be back next week – but Austin Ekeler will not!

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • NFL revises gambling policy, reinstates Lions WR Jameson Williams two weeks ahead of schedule

    • It’s a rare occurrence to hear good news related to the NFL’s gambling policy, but in this case, the former 12th overall pick will be let off the leash after serving just four of the original six weeks of his suspension. The Lions, who are already looking well oiled on offense thanks to a strong game and efficient passing game, will welcome the deep threat with open arms. Williams has has very limited in-game experience in his short career, and there’s little precedent as to just how the Lions will utilize him in the passing game. If their use of first round running back Jahmyr Gibbs is any indicator, we can likely expect two targets per game for Williams behind the likes of Josh Reynolds. All jokes aside, it’s best to temper expectations in his first few weeks of action, but he’s a high-upside bench stash that could appreciate quickly.

  • Chargers RB Austin Ekeler doubtful to play in Week 4 vs Raiders

    • Ekeler has not played a game since his 26-point PPR performance in Week 1 and will not see the field again until Week 6 at the earliest, with the Chargers bye falling in Week 5. It’s undoubtedly been a disappointing start to the season for Ekeler and his managers, but at this point fantasy managers can rest assured that a concrete timeline for his return is in place. He’ll have a tough matchup in Week 6 against the Cowboys, but he should remain a must start in every game he’s healthy for moving forward. Josh Kelley is slated to be the lead back once again, but he’s done very little to warrant consideration as anything besides a flex start. Keenan Allen’s ridiculous workload should continue this week against the Raiders, as well.

  • Titans WR Treylon Burks will not play in Week 4 vs Cincinnati

    • Burks had a 26% target share in last week’s loss to Cleveland. His absence will force Ryan Tannehill to tighten the target distribution between WR DeAndre Hopkins and TE Chigoziem Okonkwo moving forward, but the upside remains relatively limited in a low-scoring Tennessee offense. Okonkwo could become a sneaky start as a streamer this week against a Bengals defense allowing the 6th most fantasy points to TEs so far in 2023, but expectations should be tempered overall in the Titans’ passing game.
