Brock Purdy is Iron Man - Or At Least He Has to Be!

Plus, David Montgomery is OUT – and Jahmyr Gibbs' managers are all in!

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • 49ers QB Brock Purdy clears concussion protocol, in line to start Week 8 vs Cincinnati

    • It’s a pretty unbelievable development, all things considered. Purdy entered the league’s concussion protocol on Tuesday following their loss on Monday Night Football to the Vikings and seemed to be trending towards missing this week’s action before he was miraculously cleared for play. The total turnaround from his entry into the league’s protocol and his exit yesterday: four and a half days. With the uncertainty for Purdy now in the rearview, fantasy managers can fire up all of their 49ers schedules as originally scheduled before Purdy’s status was in jeopardy. As for Purdy, the matchup with the Bengals defense isn’t ideal, but he should be able to come through as a solid QB2 with upside.

  • Lions RB David Montgomery officially OUT for Week 8 vs. Raiders

    • Jahmyr Gibbs managers rejoice - you’ll have another chance to see top-end production in a solid matchup against the Raiders. This had been the expectation throughout the week, but the confirmation on Saturday solidifies Gibbs as a low-RB1 on the week in what should be a much more favorable game script than what he handled last week in Baltimore. Of course, even in a negative game script, Gibbs was able to absolutely tear it up – if the Lions could get into a positive game script, we could see him handle 20+ carries for the first time in his career. As for Montgomery, he’ll have a good chance at a return to action in Week 10 following the Lions Week 9 bye. A second strong performance from Gibbs, though, would go a long way in helping him to earn a more substantial role even once Montgomery is fully healthy.
