Christian McCaffrey is out (again) 🤕

It was one of the negative developments from an otherwise awesome snow game...

I don’t care that I was facing Josh Allen last night in my fantasy matchup - that game was one of the most unique and entertaining games I’ve ever seen. Here are Week 13’s top fantasy scorers – including Josh Allen – heading into tonight’s Monday night clash between the Broncos and Browns!

  • Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence doesn’t last a half in return to action from shoulder injury, suffers concussion and is ruled out immediately

    • Thanks a lot, Azeez Al-Shaair. The Texans linebacker road graded Lawrence’s head on an obvious ill-fated slide and sparked a brawl that resulted in his ejection from the game. It’s an unfortunate break for fantasy managers who re-inserted Lawrence into their lineups, as he closed the day with just 41 yards passing and an interception in what amounted to an unceremonious and brief return to action. The silver lining: Mac Jones stepped in and looked as capable as he has all season in relief of Lawrence, propelling both Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. to strong fantasy outings and keeping TE Evan Engram afloat, as well. Given that the injury is a concussion, there’s a chance that Lawrence could be back in relatively short order if he’s able to progress comfortably through the league’s protocol over the next week or two. However, with tough matchups against Tennessee (twice) and New York over the next four weeks, it could be back to tough sledding for the Jagaurs passing attack heading into and throughout the fantasy playoffs. Regardless, BTJ will continue to be startable as a fringe fantasy WR2, while Parker Washington will be worth a look as an intriguing waiver wire addition as the fantasy season reaches its twilight.

  • Saints do-it-all TE Taysom Hill suffers apparent knee injury in Week 13 vs Rams, gets carted off

    • Hill was en route to another solid fantasy outing before he was ruled out with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. A collision between a Rams defender’s helmet and his knee required him to be carted off the field, and barring a diagnosis of a bone bruise or a similar minor injury, fantasy managers should be prepared to move forward the rest of the way without Hill’s services should he ultimately be ruled out for the year. Before exiting, Hill led the team in receptions with 5 and also handled five carries to finish with 9.7 PPR points on the day. With Hill out, TEs Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau can be expected to take on larger roles in the passing offense – especially since the Saints are already dangerously thin at WR at this point in the year. RB Alvin Kamara is now officially the last cylinder left firing in the Saints’ offensive engine, and he can be expected to rank among the league’s best fantasy RBs the rest of the way. Should Hill be ruled out for an extended time, fantasy managers will have their weekly start/sit decision making a bit easier without the volatility of Hill’s production in their rolodex of choices.

  • 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey suffers knee injury in Week 13 vs Bills early, doesn’t return to game

    • It’s hardly surprising considering that the game last night was being played in a legitimate blizzard – and that the field was essentially a hockey rink where no players were able to get any kind of traction in their cuts. McCaffrey was ruled out officially at halftime, but spent the majority of the first half on the sideline after racking up 67 yards on ten opportunities before his exit. 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan reported after the game that it’s a PCL injury for McCaffrey, and it’s hard to imagine that he’ll be making a return any time over the course of the rest of the season. Regardless, Jordan Mason took over the primary duties in the ground game in relief of McCaffrey and is once again back on the radar as a fringe fantasy RB1 as long as CMC is out. With favorable matchups on tap over the course of the next three weeks against the Bears, Rams, and Dolphins, he could be a league-winning handcuff down the stretch if he returns to the same full-time role he enjoyed to open the season. Isaac Guerendo also got some run last night given the game script and injury to McCaffrey, though he’s nothing more than a longshot handcuff at this point – especially on an offense that’s struggling like the 49ers have been recently.
