It Was Just A Day Off for Diontae! 😅
Plus, Zack Moss missed practice yesterday – and could we see Tyrod Taylor under center for longer than we originally thought?
All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.
Steelers WR Diontae Johnson practices in full on Friday after presumable day off on Thursday
Well, yesterday’s meme has officially been fully undermined with today’s report – but that’s a good thing. After popping up on the injury report yesterday, Diontae Johnson appeared to be in danger of missing the Steelers’ Week 8 tilt against the Jaguars – but by all accounts and measures, it looks like the missed practice was just a routine day off. Johnson was spotted today during the portion of practice open to the media running and cutting at full speed, so it looks like he’ll be ready to go barring anything out of left field in the next 24 hours. Pittsburgh has a great matchup this week against the Jaguars and will be rolling out a fully healthy combination of Johnson and George Pickens for just the second time this season. Both receivers should be in lineups this week.
Colts RB Zack Moss misses practice on Friday, considered questionable for Week 8 matchup vs New Orleans
Zack Moss has done an admirable job of hanging around in the Colts backfield as long as he has following the return of Jonathan Taylor, but a missed practice Friday could derail any hope for him and his fantasy managers that he would be able to remain fantasy relevant moving forward. As expected, Jonathan Taylor has been working towards a takeover of Indy’s backfield over the past few weeks, and Moss was the last hurdle remaining for Taylor to clear in completing it. If Moss would miss the game this weekend against New Orleans, Taylor could reclaim his throne atop the Colts backfield and re-establish himself as one of the game’s premier fantasy backs. The price of Taylor’s return to dominance could very well be Zack Moss’s fantasy relevance, and as great of a run as it was with Moss to begin the year, he was simply delaying the inevitable once Taylor earned his long-term contract. Taylor profiles as a low-RB1/high-RB2 in a tough matchup against New Orleans.
Giants HC Brian Daboll unable to provide a timetable for QB Daniel Jones’ potential return from injury
Could his hesitance to clarify Jones’ status be stemming from the very capable play of Tyrod Taylor in his absence? That’s just speculation, but it would make sense given that the Giants have looked as good as they have all season over the past two weeks with the 34-year old veteran at the helm. Not only have the Giants been competitive with the Bills in Buffalo and defeated the Commanders in Week 7 under Taylor, but Taylor has also been able to raise Darren Waller from the dead and make him a startable fantasy TE1. Daniel Jones had largely fallen short of expectations in his first few games of the season, failing to score over eight points in four of his five games. The expectation is that he’ll make a return eventually, but it looks like the Giants are in no rush to re-insert him into the lineup. Taylor would normally be worth consideration off the waiver wire as a potential streamer this week, but a tough matchup against the Jets in Week 8 could limit any potential ceiling he might have.
