Devon Achane misses practice, and Rashod Bateman nears his return

This is the first edition of our weekend newsletter, featuring a roundup of the most fantasy relevant news to break over the past 24 hours. We’ll be posting these on Saturdays and Sundays, and returning to the full newsletter every week as usual - Monday thru Friday.

  • Devon Achane doesn’t participate in practice Saturday, considered “day-to-day”

    • The exact nature of the injury that Achane is dealing with remains undisclosed, so it’s difficult to project whether or not this is something fantasy managers should consider heading into drafts. However, he’s only been listed as day-to-day, which would indicate that Achane most likely isn’t in jeopardy of missing the Dolphins 2023 debut. Achane will likely fill the pass-catching role in the Dolphins offense with Jeff Wilson Jr. manning the early down role, while Raheem Mostert likely rotates in periodically. Any time missed by Achane would do more for Jeff Wilson’s value than Raheem Mostert, who figures to be relatively uninvolved regardless of the split between Wilson Jr. and Achane.

  • WR Rashod Bateman has a chance to practice soon, according to John Harbaugh

    • Bateman has taken his time returning from a Lisfranc injury that caused him to miss the majority of the 2022 season, and remains yet to take any snaps in practice so far this offseason. With the Ravens bringing in help in the receiving game in the form of Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr., there’s certainly no rush to get him back into the lineup. However, his absence has opened the door for Flowers and Beckham to build early chemistry with Lamar Jackson, something that Bateman will have little to no chance to do heading into 2023. It’s likely that Bateman will be slow-rolled back into action in 2023, as well, which could place him as the No. 3 WR on the Ravens depth chart come Week 1.
