The Texans are undermanned heading into Week 14 😲

Dalton Schultz is out, and so is Isiah Pacheco – plus, things aren't looking good for Christian Watson in Week 14!

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • Packers WR Christian Watson misses practice Friday, trending towards missing Week 14

    • While he has yet to officially be ruled out for the Packers Monday night matchup against the Giants, it seems all but certain that Watson will miss the game this week after suffering a textbook non-contact injury last week against the Chiefs. Watson dealt with a hamstring injury earlier this season that caused him to miss three games to begin the year, and after multiple weeks playing at less than 100%, Watson was finally starting to hit his stride before exiting last week’s game early – he had scored four touchdowns over the past three games and help support Jordan Love’s hot streak in that same time span. With Watson out, both Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs get upgrades with Reed profiling as a potential WR3 with upside in a plus matchup against a porous Giants secondary. Doubs will have flex appeal and could provide WR3 numbers if he can find the end zone this week.

  • Texans TE Dalton Schultz officially ruled out for Week 14 matchup vs Jets with hamstring injury

    • It’ll be the second-straight game that the Texans tight end has missed, a loss compounded by the fact that Tank Dell will be out of the lineup for the rest of the season on IR. Schultz had worked himself into a solid role in the Texans passing offense in the few weeks before he originally went down with the injury, rattling off back-to-back-to-back top-8 finishes from Weeks 9-11 before being limited to just 48% of snaps in Week 12. With Schultz sidelined this week, C.J. Stroud will lead an undermanned Texans offense into New York against a Jets defense that has been fantastic against wide receivers and quarterbacks alike this season. Backup TE Brevin Jordan could be worth a look off the waiver wire in deeper leagues this week, although expectations should be tempered on the whole for Houston’s offense in the final week before the fantasy playoffs.

  • Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco officially out for Week 14 tilt vs. Bills with shoulder injury

    • Pacheco didn’t practice at all this week and Andy Reid did little to help quell the concern for the dynamic running back’s rest-of-season prospects moving forward. ‘We’ll see’ was the response he gave to a question about whether or not Pacheco could land on IR with the shoulder injury that’s holding him out of the matchup this week against the Bills, so his future moving forward is officially in question. A trip to IR would mean certain doom for his fantasy managers – a four-week absence would slate Pacheco to return, at the earliest, in Week 18 - one week after the end of the fantasy football season. In relief of Pacheco, the Chiefs are expected to platoon RBs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon to pick up the slack left by Pacheco in the backfield. Despite Andy Reid saying that CEH would be the No. 1 guy in Kansas City’s backfield, McKinnon will be the player to add given that he will almost assuredly be running many more routes than CEH.
