Your roundup of everything you need to know regarding injuries around the league going into Week 6:

  • RB Isiah Pacheco (MCL sprain) - Pacheco carried the ball 12 times for 58 yards against the Commanders in a game that was largely in the Chiefs control – especially in the second half. He came out a bit dinged up, however, and his status will be one to watch in Week 9 going into a matchup against the Bills. The Chiefs have their bye in Week 10, and if the team wants to play it safe – especially given the amount of run they’ve allowed for Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith behind him – we could see Pacheco miss Week 9. He wouldn’t be anything more than a flex play against the Bills if he did wind up suiting up.

  • QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring) - After disappointing fantasy managers in Week 8 with an inactive designation on Sunday, Jackson is primed to make his return in Week 9 on TNF just four days later. He’ll step back into command of a still fully-loaded Ravens offense as they take on the Dolphins, who are allowing the 9th-most fantasy points per game tot he quarterback position. He can be immediately re-inserted into lineups, while the likes of Zay Flowers and Derrick Henry receive considerable upgrades as upside WR2 and RB1 plays, respectively.

  • WR Drake London (hip) - both London and his QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) are considered day-to-day heading into Week 9. Neither player suited up this past weekend against the Dolphins, and their services were clearly sorely missed as the Dolphins drubbed the Falcons 34-10 despite fielding one of the worst defenses in the league. Without them, Kirk Cousins and Darnell Mooney failed to step up, so the hope is that one or both of them will be ready to go by the time kickoff rolls around on Sunday against the Patriots. If London misses, Mooney would profile once again as nothing more than a flex play, while Kirk Cousins should remain on benches if Penix can’t suit up on Sunday.

  • QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) - He’s considered day-to-day officially with a shoulder injury, but considering he was able to return to the game late against the Jets last week to try and cobble together a last-minute comeback, it would be a surprise if this would turn into anything more serious or actually cause him to miss games. The day-to-day designation is likely a combination of exercising caution for both the 40+ year old passer and to avoid the landmine of not properly documenting an injury, even if it’s minor. Flacco has revived the Bengals offense to not only fantasy relevance, but fantasy excellence, and Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown all have encouraging outlooks as long as Flacco is slinging the rock.

  • WR Puka Nacua (ankle) - With the Rams’ bye week officially in the rearview, Nacua is expected to practice this week in anticipation of their Week 9 matchup against the Saints. Nacua missed most of the Rams’ Week 6 game against the Ravens with the injury and all of Week 7 before earning the extra week of recovery thanks to LA’s bye falling in Week 8. Now, he’s set to return having missed just one full game and reprise his role as Matthew Stafford’s top target. Barring any unforeseen turbulence this week, Nacua will be ready to go and return as the likely overall WR1 now that he’s back and healthy.

  • RB Quinshon Judkins (shoulder) & RB Saquon Barkley (groin) - Both the Browns and the Eagles head into their byes in Week 9, making these respective injuries not worth worrying about at this point. Judkins is listed as day-to-day, suggesting that the week off will be enough to allow him to return to the action come Week 10. Meanwhile, Barkley’s groin injury reportedly isn’t that serious – if that’s true, then the bye week should be enough for him to give it rest and return to action on the other side of the bye. It’s advisable regardless to go and grab their handcuffs off the waiver wire (Dylan Sampson, Tank Bigsby) in the event that they actually do miss time, but neither situation bears the need for too much concern.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggests that ā€˜at least one’ of the Saints wide receivers will be traded ahead of next Week’s November 4th deadline

  • The current buzz, according to Schefter, is that if either of Chris Olave or Rashid Shaheed were more likely to be moved, it would be the latter. Despite the Saints offense cratering this season with Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough at the controls, Chris Olave currently stands as the overall WR9 on the season with 83 targets, 52 receptions 503 yards, and 3 touchdowns on the season. Not too shabby for the former first-round pick, who is likely to remain perfectly relevant on a weekly basis regardless of whether he stays in his current situation (where target quantity is buoying him) or is traded to a better one (where his potential could be fully realized). As for Shaheed, things haven’t been quite as productive – he’s caught just 39 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns this season. He’s still on pace for easily the best finish of his career as the current overall WR29, though a new home could help take him to new heights if he’s land in a higher quality offense with some targets available. Schefter name-dropped the Bills, Steelers, and Broncos as potential suitors in a deal for the WR. Given New Orleans’ struggles, it’s well within the realm of possibility that we see one of the receivers moved, so fantasy managers can sit tight, continue starting both in their lineups this last week before the trade deadline, and wait to see if the situation for Shaheed or even Olave improves. If Shaheed does get moved, Olave would benefit from likely even more laser focus on him as the team’s top target.

Saints officially name rookie QB Tyler Shough as the team’s starter moving forward, sending Spencer Rattler to the bench

  • The Saints situation on offense is as volatile as any given the aforementioned trade rumors of their top weapons and now this switch at QB to the former 2nd-round pick out of Louisville. Shough put up just about the numbers you would expect in his first NFL action last week, throwing for 128 scoreless yards and adding an interception for good measure. It’s hardly an enviable spot to be stepping into for the 1-7 Saints facing a loaded Rams in LA, but he’ll give it a go. Shough shouldn’t be started in any lineups outside of the most desperate superflex leagues, and his outlook moving forward is even murkier with the majority of his weapons (those being Olave, Shaheed, and even Alvin Kamara) being the subjects of trade rumors at the approaching deadline. Losing one or more of those players would tank Shough’s stock even more, and it’s likely that Shough eventually cedes the job at some point once again back to Spencer Rattler. Fireworks were never the expectation for this Saints offense coming into the season, but we’ll see what Shough is able to do for the Saints playmakers moving forward in sustaining them to fantasy-relevant production.

Chase Brown is officially back? Is Woody Marks here to stay in Houston? Faraz breaks down everything you need to know about this past weekend’s action and projects ahead!

  1. Now that’s more like the Chase Brown we know…

    1. Chase Brown had his second straight game over 100 total yards, and scored through the air and on the ground. Over the last three games with Joe Flacco, Brown is averaging 7 yards per carry; compare that to the 2.5 he was averaging in the first five weeks of the season. It’s worth noting, however, that Samaje Perine has been pretty involved over the last couple of weeks, which is going to leave Brown dependent on efficiency. The good news is that he has more good matchups than bad coming up.

  2. Falcons offense sputters sans Michael Penix, Drake London

    1. Without Michael Penix, the Falcons offense couldn’t get anything going. Penix had his own on-field issues to fix, but the Kirk Cousins-led offense was a different type of suck. Against one of the league’s worst rushing defense, one of the league’s best rushing offenses couldn’t get anything going; Bijan had only 9 carries. Without Drake London, the passing offense fell apart; Darnell Mooney had only 1 catch on 4 targets. Kyle Pitts didn’t seem to have an issue, catching all 9 of his targets for 59 yards. Go figure. Let’s hope we get Penix and London back next week against New England.

  3. Woody Marks not going away in Texans offense

    1. Woody Marks’ usage continues to be somewhat inconsistent in terms of his role, as his touches have come in various scenarios like negative game scripts and such. However, he’s finding ways to get it done; he’s averaging 14 touches over his last four games, and the key part is that he’s very involved in the receiving game. 4/49 in Week 8, 3/20/1 in Week 7, has his bye in Week 6, didn’t do much in Week 5, but went 4/50/1 receiving in Week 5. He split snaps 50/50 with Nick Chubb on Sunday after dominating snaps (48-19) in a negative game script in Week 7. Marks still profiles as a RB3/flex, but he’s shown the ability to overdeliver on the usage.

  4. Cam Skattebo out for the season after dislocating ankle šŸ˜”

    1. Why can’t we have fun? Cam Skattebo was such a fun, bright spot for the NFL as a whole, so his injury stings even more. On top of that, he was morphing into a legit NFL RB before our eyes as a rookie. Unfortunately, he suffered a brutal dislocated ankle injury, and is set to be out for the season. Really hope this doesn’t affect his 2026 season, but it can. Moving forward, Tyrone Tracy will be the guy for the Giants as he was last season; he was on the field for 78% of snaps following Skattebo’s injury on Sunday, and is this week’s top waiver wire pickup as of today.
