The Tight End Position is in Shambles! 🤕

Mark Andrews will likely miss Week 1, and how will Javonte Williams fare in his return?

All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.

  • Ravens TE Mark Andrews is expected to miss Week 1 against the Texans with a quad injury

    • The tight end position is about to be in shambles in Week 1. With Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews having already missed or being slated to miss the season opener, plus George Kittle and Darren Waller being questionable in their respective games, waiver wire warriors are about to have a hay day with back-end TE1s filling starting lineups across the board. With Andrews out, there’s a possibility that Zay Flowers sees a very high target share – and J.K. Dobbins could potentially become part of the mix if Todd Monken truly wants to make good on his promises this offseason about getting him the ball through the air.

  • Broncos HC Sean Payton says that RB Javonte Williams will be on a snap count to open the 2023 season

    • Despite making a miraculous comeback in a very short time frame and even starting in a preseason game, this is the best move for Williams’ long term health and is not the end of the world for his season long prospects. The Broncos brought in Samaje Perine for this very reason, as he’ll allow Denver to slow roll Williams’ return. Both could have low-end flex value this week against the Raiders, but don’t expect much in the way of a high ceiling for either back as a result of this report.

  • Lions HC Dan Campbell says that Jahmyr Gibbs’ limited work on Thursday was “by design”

    • Maybe Dan Campbell isn’t that good of a coach after all. All jokes aside, Gibbs’ fantasy managers were understandably outraged by his minimal usage in his pro debut, as he garnered just seven opportunities against a Chiefs defense that didn’t really have any answers for him with the ball in his hands. His 6 missed tackles forced jumped both off the stat page and the game film, and his usage in the receiving game, while comparatively low, was very encouraging. No need to panic on Gibbs just yet, but it’s at the very least a silver lining to hear that the Lions put the brakes on him on purpose and not as a result of poor or underwhelming play.
