What's in store for Jahmyr Gibbs in 2023? 🦁
Plus, Puka Nacua could step into opportunity immediately – and the Colts starting RB for Week 1 has been named
All of the most important fantasy news over the last 24 hours – all in one place.
Add this to the laundry list of positive and highly intriguing quotes that the Lion staff has shared about their newest offensive weapon. Gibbs has consistently seen his ADP rise throughout the offseason since he was drafted 12th overall, and it seems like Detroit is interested in getting the ball to him early, often, and in as many ways as they can in 2023. It’s worth mentioning that the fantasy community has largely expected Gibbs to take on the receiving work out of the Lions backfield – if Johnson is referring to that with his quote, it could be possible that Gibbs takes on a more substantial role in the run game than originally thought.
Rams HC Sean McVay says that WR Puka Nacua could be a Day 1 contributor
With WR Cooper Kupp trending away from starting in Week 1 after aggravating his hamstring injury this past week, the door is open for Puka Nacua to make a splash in the Rams offense as the No.2 receiver. It’s been reported that Van Jefferson will take on the No. 1 duties in Kupp’s absence, but that could be just on the depth chart depending on the target distribution in Week 1. The anticipated issue with Nacua heading into 2023 was whether or not he’d have a high enough snap share to use his talent to produce consistently, but with that box checked as a result of Kupp’s injury, Nacua has a chance to be a true sleeper in the first few weeks of the season.
Colts RB Deon Jackson expected to start in Week 1 vs. Jaguars
The Colts have named Jackson the starter to begin the season – most likely because of his familiarity in their offense. His status on the depth chart as the top back doesn’t, however, guarantee him an RB1 workload – it’s likely that Evan Hull and eventually Zack Moss mix in to help weather the storm of Jonathan Taylor’s absence. Jackson will likely be best utilized as a flex player on most fantasy football rosters, but his value will likely deteriorate as the season goes on – especially if the Colts and Jonathan Taylor are able to mend their broken relationship.
